Welcome to LAMP on GCP

This server is powered by Apache, MySQL, PHP and phpMyAdmin.

Important: Configure MySQL root password and phpMyAdmin access before production use.

To enable HTTPS with Let's Encrypt, run: sudo certbot --apache

Post-Deployment Setup Required

• Set MySQL root password: sudo mysql_secure_installation
• Configure phpMyAdmin database access
• Set up your website files in /var/www/html
• Configure SSL/HTTPS for production

Important Directories

• Web root: /var/www/html — Place your website files here to serve them via Apache.
• Apache config: /etc/apache2/ — Main configuration directory for Apache.
• PHP config: /etc/php/ — Configuration files for PHP.
• MySQL data: /var/lib/mysql — MySQL database files (do not edit directly).
• phpMyAdmin: /usr/share/phpmyadmin — phpMyAdmin application files.

For custom Apache site configs, see /etc/apache2/sites-available/.

Security Notes

• MySQL root user uses socket authentication by default (secure)
• First boot will automatically configure MySQL maintenance user
• Check /var/log/mysql-first-boot-setup.log for setup status
